The Easy Way to Stop Smoking Join the Millions Who Have Become Non Smokers Using Allen Carrs Easyway Method

A new edition of the revolutionary bestseller, with four million copies in print. Allen Carr’s innovative Easyway method—which he discovered after his own 100-cigarette-a-day habit nearly drove him to despair—has helped millions kick smoking without feeling anxious and deprived. That’s because he helps smokers discover the psychological reasons behind their dependency, explains in detail how to handle the withdrawal symptoms, shows them how to avoid situations when temptation might become too strong, and enables them to stay smoke-free. Carr discusses such issues as nicotine addiction; the social “brainwashing” that encourages smoking; the false belief that a cigarette relieves stress; the role boredom plays in sabotaging efforts to stop; and the main reasons for failure. With this proven program, smokers will be throwing away their packs for good.

5 Stars Just that EASY
This is exactly what I needed. Why did it take me so long to find this book.

5 Stars One more satisfied reader
I read this book, followed the instructions, and am now a happy non-smoker. Most amazing was that after fifteen years of smoking at least a pack a day I found it incredably easy to stop.

Thank you Allen Carr.

Received quickly in great condition. Was a pleasure dealing with such a responsible and honest distributor.

Thank you!

5 Stars Easyway to stop smoking
Different approach, easy reading, you can’t put the book down and most important of all, if you want to quit : you will as a fact!

5 Stars It seriously works!
Like a lot of the other reviewers, I bought this book even though I was sure I enjoyed smoking, and didn’t really want to quit. It was one of those “well, I know I will have to eventually, so I’ll use it then”.

I don’t remember what made me start it, but I am so glad I did! I was skeptical even while I was reading it, and even when I finished it. But I followed the instructions, and it has really been just that easy…

I have kept the book around (instead of passing it to my couple smoking friends) in case I needed to refer to it in a moment of weakness but really… there haven’t been any! Even in my smoking places: the car, the 2 bars in the world where you can still smoke, being around other smokers, stressful days, boring days… and I haven’t felt deprived!

The book is actually pretty simple–he sort of re-brainwashes over the smoking brainwash (I had no idea until I read this!!!!). And it’s effective!

$9 bucks is a small price to pay to save $5-8 bucks every couple days on smokes alone! :D

5 Stars The Sixty Second Motivator - Book Review
Both my husband and I enjoyed this book a lot. We found it to be a neat, well organized little book written in an easy-to-understand, straight-forward style that is genuinely enjoyable while at the same time providing valuable insights about why we do or do not do things. While we found it quite analytical about key factors concerning motivation, the book didn’t make us feel intimidated or “preached at”. The tone of the book came across to us as friendly, low-key, very helpful, analytical and a valuable “keeper” to refer to in life’s future situations.

One note though. Readers who zip through the book and don’t bother to honestly reflect on the questions at the end of the book will probably not “get it” and be disappointed.

5 Stars 60 Sec
Good book. Has a nice basic scientific approach to how to get motivated. If you are unfamilar with the process of getting and staying motivated about anything I recommend you read this very short (70p) and informative book.

5 Stars Small Book With a BIG Impact
Being a cardiac rehab nurse and spending a lot of time each day trying to get people to change their lifestyles to create better health, this book caught my eye. After reading it, I found the principles instantly useful for me to use at work. They can help anyone get motivated to get past the barriers that keep them from making changes to improve their health. Additionally, the book is short and to the point which is good for a busy Mom like myself.

2 Stars Pamphet at a book price
This really isn’t a book. It is 67 pages in a small format with large print and very wide top and bottom margins. The author talks about “secrets” of motivation. There are no secrets here. Anyone who has accomplished anything difficult will not learn anything new. It’s OK for what it is but grossly overpriced.

I “kinda” want to learn French but am having a motivation problem with this particular project. The title and the reviews caught my eye - a good example of bad impulse buying.

3 Stars It’s just ok
The information is good. But I do not like the story-like manner in which it is told. I also found just the last few pages are what I wanted and considering the book is so small that was a huge disappointment. I felt like I wasted my money… But it does provide you with some helpful, basic, very basic, very very basic information and motivation, hence the 3 stars.

Allen Carrs Easy Way for Women to Stop Smoking

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Thank God for Allen Carr and the Easy Way
This is the most incredible book which has completely changed my life. I quit smoking almost effortlessly with the assistance of this plan. If you read this book and absorb what it says, you will easily throw away the cigarettes. I will never smoke again and if I ever get the urge, I will pull the book back out. I only wish I had discovered this years earlier.

5 Stars Free at last!!
UPDATE! I am still euphoric to be a non-smoker. Almost every time I take a deep breath, I giggle a little at the joy of being able to breathe so freely. I will keep updating every so often to reinforce the fact that THIS BOOK DOES WORK!!

I smoked for 12 years, for awhile smoking 2+ packs a day, then for the last year and a half smoked cigars. And I don’t mean just puffing on them, but INHALING 6 to 7 every day. The minute I put this book down (January 3, 2007), the world was different for me. The sky was brighter, the air was sweeter and every day seemed to be just brimming over with potential. I knew it was because I was free. It is now 3 1/2 months later, and I am still riding that wave of euphoria. Now if I am around cigarette smoke too long instead of craving one (as with other methods) I get a bad headache.

So don’t rush through the book! And don’t skip to the back and read (obviously one of the reviewers here did and that is why the book didn’t work for them). Debate every aspect of it with yourself, your spouse, your family and/or your friends. Let it be the valuable key to your tobacco prison–you have nothing to lose except your addiction to the “demon weed”.

4 Stars Easy Way for Women to Stop Smoking
This is a wonderful book. I was not able to stop smoking using only this book, however. One of the problems I encountered was that when I quit, I felt out of step and insecure. So my “quit” only lasted a half day. Allen Carr does not go into detail on handling the insecure feeling. However, I read the book again, bought a CD by Bob Griswold on quitting which you can listen to while you drive and got a prescription for Chantix from my MD. The CD was very important because Griswold actually tells you what to do when you get the insecure feeling which comes when you are quitting an addiction to nicotine. The Chantix makes it easier to get through cravings. And Griswold is right - the cravings don’t last more than 15 minutes and after a while, you don’t have them at all.

5 Stars If it doesn’t work…
For the minority of people for which this book doesn’t work: Please buy a copy of Allen Carr’s The Only Way to Stop Smoking Permanently. I know of some people who have read “The Easy Way” a few times and it didn’t work, then read “The Only Way” and it worked. Plus my brother had to read “The Only way” three or four times before it ‘clicked’. (although around 80% of people only have to read one of the books just once) Please don’t give up! Allen Carr’s books are generally very very effective with the vast majority of people!

1 Star Smoking
Unfortunately, despite reading this book twice, I still smoke. Allen Carr says that once you read the book and understand the message you will loose the desire to smoke. I wish this was true.

Allen Carrs Easy Way to Stop Smoking Penguin Health Care and Fitness

Allen Carr’s hundred-cigarettes-a-day addiction drove him to despair, but after countless attempts to quit he discovered what the world had been waiting for - the easy way to stop smoking. Now recognised as the world’s leading expert on helping smokers to quit, Allen Carr’s informative, no scare tactics methods and techniques are a revelation for those desperate to kick the habit.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Thank you Allen- you saved me!
This amazing book really does work- I freed myself from the “nightmare” after years of alternating addictions between cigarettes, nicotine gum, patches and all the rest of it. I quit easily and effortlessly- just like the book says you can and every day I give thanks that I am a non smoker. It’s probably one of the greatest things to ever happen in my life! Whenever I am feeling down about something I often remind myself that at least I don’t smoke anymore and I am so grateful for that! Smoking really is one of the most putrid addictions a person can have and make no mistake- it ruins lives in more ways that one. Seriously, whenever I see a smoker now, I genuinely pity them.

A couple of points; for this method to work you really do have to read the book. So many smokers I know ask me to just “give them the basics” so they can quit smoking effortlessly without having to actually do any reading. Sorry but you are going to have to spend a couple of days reading because the method cannot be summed up in a couple of sentences. The other thing is that I think that for the method to be effective, a certain degree of intelligence on the part of the reader is a requirement. I’ve recommended this book to a couple of people and was surprised when they told me it didn’t work for them. When I sat down and thought about it I realized that the reason it didn’t work for them is because they just weren’t bright enough to absorb and understand what is being said; I’m talking about people who probably have never read a book in their entire lives and took over 6 weeks to complete this one. Hey, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist but morons tend to have trouble understanding and absorbing anything they read!

4 Stars It worked for me
I bought this book to help with stopping smoking. It really shows the cigarette smoking habit in a different light, and helps you to put them down. I coupled the book with some stop-smoking cigarette filters that cut down on the amount of tar and nicotine you are getting with each cigarette. I used those filters for one week while reading this book, then I just stopped- and I haven’t had a cigarette for over 2 years! I also have heeded the advice of other reviewers, that it is bad luck to get rid of the book, so I still have it in my night table drawer:)

5 Stars IT JUST WORKS!
I don’t even know where to begin, but THIS BOOK JUST WORKS!

It seems weird to read a book and “just quit”, but that’s what happened.

Trust me, it won’t be “different for you”… it will work. Buy it.

I’ve read the hundreds of reviews on the last book’s edition, and it inspired me to purchase this latest (2006) edition.

A friend of mine who quit (after reading to pg. 95 of this book…it took me longer, by the way) recommended it to me about 8 months ago.

It’s taken me that long to buy the book because

I WAS AFRAID TO QUIT!

I mean, I’m 41 (just had a birthday)and I’ve been smoking for 25 years and I “like it” (or so I thought)!

I kind of didn’t want to quit smoking, but thought I should.

I smoked for 25 years (that’s plenty). …At least one pack/day for 23 of those years. Of course, I stopped while pregnant (didn’t have the urge, thank God) and slowly started again, only this time (for the last 3 years) it’s only been 5 cigs./day (or more if I was “out” partying).

I bought the book and didn’t really think I’d quit and wasn’t really “ready” or anything and I started reading the book and it just happened anyway!

I smoked my last cigarette on Monday, August 13, 2007 (while I was still 40)! I just had a birthday… this was my gift to myself.

I know it’s only been shy of three weeks, but it was pretty EASY! And, I know I’m done. You can just tell. (like when I met my husband, you “just know”)

The first week was only very slightly bothersome, but I was EASILY able to talk myself out of it (surprisingly). I really shock myself. Honestly, it’s an easy read and I’m sure you’ll quit. Seriously.

I know your thinking, “It sounds good, but it probably won’t work for me”

… I said THE SAME THING! AND IT WORKED! (I thought I was “different”) Boo hoo.

I’ve been telling EVERYBODY!

The book says that if after reading it, you have any urge at all, whatsoever to smoke, then you should also read the larger book (which I’m doing, just for reinforcement)and you will never think about another smoke again (most people feel this way after reading the first one)

This is the second (very long) book: Allen Carr’s “Only way to stop smoking permanently”.

It’s funny that it occassionally occurs to me that maybe I wasn’t committed enough to quitting, when I read it, so it didn’t work with just the one book.

It only took me one time to think, “I’ll have just one more”

… how stupid!

I smoked for 25 YEARS, but one more was going to do it! HA!

I EASILY talked myself out of that one.

Additionally, I have never tried to quit, before. He says it’s easier if you HAVE tried before, for some reason.

Also, it is VERY important to smoke while you’re reading this book! (I didn’t, enough, probably)

He actually tells you on a few occassions while reading to light up (if you’re not, already).

My last cigarette was the one that he told me to light. I had just finished one about 20 minutes before and didn’t really want another one but I lit it anyway, because he told me to. (I wanted to follow the directions exactly)

It did NOTHING for me.

I didn’t even think when I tossed it in the fireplace that that was going to be my last one. Turns out, it just was. Probably this is best.

Funny, I remember my first one, too, and it was equally distasteful.

Interesting.

So, no. After 25 years of smoking, I don’t really need another ONE to “make sure”. Now, I could really care less.

It’s so cool.

It is a little strange to me (the fact) that I haven’t smoked in three weeks.

That’s NEVER happened before (except when pregnant)!

I couldn’t even imagine that, before.

I’d even smoke when I was so sick I didn’t want to get out of bed or eat anything, let alone smoke.

But there I was, sitting at the fireplace, stuffed up and ache-y all over, puffing away. What a moron.

You’re only laughing because you’ve done the same thing!

That’s ’cause we’re smokers and that’s what smokers do. Pathetic, I know. But true.

I remember putting those “sick-time” cigarettes out and saying,

“That didn’t really help anything”, but at least I didn’t go a whole day without smoking, that would be too weird. Crazy.

Read this book. Please read this book. Pretty please, read this book.

You’ll be glad you did.

I am such an advocate now that I feel like running a stop smoking clinic. But I’m too busy, so I’m writing this for you.

Anyway, just get the book.

You’ll really be glad you did, and so will your kids, your parents, your friends or anyone else you tell!

Sometimes I just tell strangers so that I can see the happy look on their faces and get compliments.

Smoking is the only thing that when you are doing it, you kind of wish you weren’t and when you’re not, you wished you were. ridiculous!

Every day since I quit has been a good day. I was literally giddy and bubbly the day I quit… and that’s not really my personality.

I take deep breaths, now.. (because I can) and it feels SO good!

On occassion, I think of the act of smoking at different moments like getting into my car.

I would always light up if I was alone in my car, because I knew I could smoke there without getting any dirty looks. Sometimes, I would even try to hide it while driving… like when kids were in the car next to me, especially.

Now, I wouldn’t say I “crave” a smoke, but there are still times when it occurs to me that I’d be smoking now, if I were a smoker. Like in my car or having a beer, etc. (this is why I’m reading the next book)

The difference is, I can EASILY talk myself out of it and in about 10 seconds, I forget about that thought and it literally “doesn’t matter” anymore.

I don’t care if people smoke around me, or if everyone in the room is.

You’ll see.

It even works for “secret smokers”… those who say they’ve quit but then get up at 3:00 am and sneak outside for one or make up stupid errands to have an exuse to drive somewhere alone. (ridiculous, but true)

Those smokers are actually the ones who REALLY need this book, too!

I’m so thankful and indebted to Allen Carr (I wish he were alive to tell him, myself) for setting me free.

(He went from chain smoking 100 cigaretts/day to zero with NO PROBLEMS)!

So, see, he was worse than you!

(regretably, he died this year from lung cancer, by the way, but was able to enjoy many years as a non-smoker before he died)

I haven’t told my parents yet, but I can’t wait to see the excitement on their faces when I tell them.

Having a beautiful three year old daughter, myself, it just KILLS ME to imagine her with a cigarette in her mouth!

I CAN’T BELIEVE I DID THAT TO MY MOM!

The best way I can rectify all those painful years they watched me, is to relieve them with the great news.

I can’t wait.

Honestly, if I were any happier, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. I want you to feel that way too.

Thanks for reading.

Anastasia

1 Star It doesn’t work
I am dying of emphisema, this book does not work. Save your money and buy brass accents for your coffin instead

5 Stars I stopped smoking! No pain, no cravings and NO weight gain!
I was very sceptical of this book, but read it after two of my friends read it and quit. I can tell you right now -it works. You quit without any cravings, any pain, any weight gain.

There is no sensationalism -nothing about lung cancer, strokes and the usual fear tactics used to try and stop people from smoking (hey -they don’t work anyway!).

By the end of this book, something inside you will have shifted, you will throw away your cigarettes without a backwards glance -free at last, forever.

Stop Smoking in One Hour Play the CD Just Once and Never Smoke Again

Everyday, an estimated one thousand Americans die from the effects of smoking. There are 45 to 50 million nicotine addicts in the United States, and most would like to quit. If you are one of them, this book is your guide.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Not impressed
This book and CD had no effect what so ever, other than perhaps to get me more determined to find something that really works.

5 Stars I forgot I had ever been a smoker !
I have tried to quit in the past but felt not so convinced about it, I felt miserable anytime I had a smoker near by. With this method, the first week was tough but respiratory exercise and this sort of irrational belief that something changed in me helped me. Now I enjoy inhaling with deep breaths. No exhauted lungs by smoke and toxic chemicals. It is 10 times as good as a cigarette ! I am full of energy, no soar throat when I wake up or worst desatrous headache after late nights if I drink a bit. I quit smoking and I know it is for good, when I am seing a smoker, i feel sad for him.

5 Stars amazing
I have been smoking a pack a day since 1985. I have tried everything to quit, patches, gum, lozenges, and I even went to a hypnotist.

I have no idea what it is about this cd but it worked. I read the book first then listened to the cd before I went to bed. I woke up the next morning with out any desire to smoke. I still had the habit of smoking. After I would eat I would think “I need a cigarette” but then the thought of it made me sick. In fact the smell makes me want to vomit. Even just thinking about smoking makes me cringe. I am finally a non-smoker. I finally have my life back and I don’t stink anymore.

I am loaning and purchasing this for all my smoking friends. Never have I had such great results from hynosis for anything.

5 Stars IT WAS AMAZING!
I AM 37 YEARS OLD AND I STARTED SMOKING 26 YEARS AGO (YES WHEN I WAS 11) I HAVE BEEN SMOKING AT LEAST 2 PACKS A DAY FOR THE PAST 16 YEARS.I HAVE NEVER NOT ONE TIME HONESTLY TRIED TO STOP SMOKING. I READ THE FIRST 47 PAGES OF THIS BOOK AND ACTUALLY PAID ATTENTION TO WHAT SHE WAS SAYING. THEN IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO LISTEN TO THE CD. I WAITED 2 DAYS BEFORE I LISTENED TO THE CD. I WAS SCARED TO STOP SMOKING. I KNEW I WOULD MISS IT AND REALLY DIDN’T THINK I WOULD BE ABLE TO QUIT. WELL, IT HAS NOW BEEN 3 DAYS AND I HAVE NOT HAD ONE CIGARETTE. THE THOUGHT HAS CROSSED MY MIND A TIME OR TWO, BUT NOTHING BAD ENOUGH TO MAKE ME GO BACK TO SMOKING. IT DOESN’T EVEN BOTHER ME TO BE AROUND PEOPLE WHO ARE SMOKING. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT BUT THE SMOKE ACTUALLY STUNK TO ME I THOUGHT I WOULD ENJOY THE SMELL, SINCE I HADN’T HAD A CIGARETTE.I HAVE OFFERED EVERYONE I KNOW THATSMOKES THE USE OF MY BOOK AND CD IF THEY WANT IT. IT WAS WELL WORTH WHATEVER I PAID FOR IT.

5 Stars Can’t believe it worked
I’m sad to say I smoked for 15 + years and tried so many times to stop. I got this book for christmas (again many thanks mom) and sat back and read it while I smoked for about 2 months. I listened to the CD at least once maybe twice but no more than that. After I woke up / was brought out of hypnosis I felt ready to stop and did. Now being a smoker when things got rough a few days later I lit up, and had 2 puffs (one to light it and one to make sure I didn’t want it) and none since.

I’m not sure exactly what helped but I know I really thought about why I was reaching for a smoke and was able to choose not to. It’s 2 years later and I can’t remember smoking - even though my husband still does.

I’d say if you’re reading these reviews you are considering quiting or you want to help someone else. Either way buy it already it’s worth it!
